About

Sussex Youth Ballet Company provides opportunities for students to explore ballet and related dance genres, specifically within the context of performance. The company’s aim is to build on each student’s knowledge and confidence through performance, giving them a constant reminder as to why their weekly ballet classes are so important.

Sussex Youth Ballet Company aims to enhance each student’s performance skills. Our year begins with 6 workshops which take place on Sundays between March and July. The workshops enable students to enjoy performance-based ballet classes, in addition to exploring other dance genres with amazing guest teachers.

Previous teachers have included James Barton (Birmingham Royal Ballet), Daisy May Kemp (Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures Company), Emma Green (West End’s ‘Wicked’), to name but a few.

In September we begin rehearsals for our Christmas production. Each production tells a story, specifically written or adapted for SYBC and give students the opportunity to work on their characterisation and story telling.

SYBC is a fantastic way for ballet students to experience what it is like to be part of a classical company, enjoying guest choreographers and rehearsals which culminate in a professional production.
